Configuration 4 strips the BM0253 system back to its essentials — three wide 150cm shelves, tightly spaced, with nothing to distract from the display. Designed by Børge Mogensen in 1953 as part of his ‘building furniture’ concept, the system was brought into production by Carl Hansen & Søn faithful to Mogensen’s original vision: tubular steel uprights, FSC™-certified oak or walnut shelves, and a modular logic that lets each configuration stand on its own or grow over time.

Configuration 4 — Three-Shelf Open Display

Three full-width 150cm shelves on a six-piece leg set — a clean, uncluttered configuration that prioritises generous display space over storage volume. The 10cm rod set brings the shelves closer together than in other configurations, creating a tighter, more considered spacing that suits books, objects, and curated displays equally well.

No cabinet, no doors — just three wide shelves and the quiet precision of the tubular steel frame. A strong standalone piece, and a natural anchor for a larger system built around it.
