Configuration 3 brings the BM0253 system into smaller spaces — six narrow 79cm shelves stacked on a compact 4-piece leg set, designed for rooms where a full-width run of shelving would feel too heavy. Designed by Børge Mogensen in 1953 as part of his ‘building furniture’ concept, the system was brought into production by Carl Hansen & Søn faithful to Mogensen’s original vision: tubular steel uprights, FSC™-certified oak or walnut shelves, and a modular logic that lets each configuration stand on its own or grow over time.
Configuration 3 — Compact Open Shelving
A compact, entirely open configuration built from six narrower 79cm shelves — ideal where wall space is limited or a lighter visual footprint is needed. The 4-piece leg set keeps the system low and grounded, while the uniform shelf width gives it a clean, considered rhythm. No cabinet, no doors: just open display across six levels, with the steel frame doing the structural work quietly in the background.
