Louis Poulsen AJ Eklipta Wall / Ceiling Light
Manufacturer: Louis Poulsen | Designer: Arne Jacobsen
Designed for Architecture
The AJ Eklipta was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1956 for Rødovre Town Hall — produced in two sizes, Ø350 and Ø450, for use on stairways and as outdoor wall lamps. A smaller Ø220 version followed, designed specifically for St Catherine's College in Oxford. When Jacobsen used the fixture himself, he always chose the largest model. Today all three sizes are in use worldwide across a wide range of architectural settings.
The Design
The three-layer mouth-blown opal glass shade produces soft, comfortable, glare-free light with a uniformly lit surface. Its transparent edge creates a decorative halo of light around the fixture — a detail that reads as well in a contemporary interior as it did in Jacobsen's original civic buildings. The rear housing is white lacquered aluminium.
- Available in: Ø220mm, Ø350mm, Ø450mm
- Light source: Ø220 — G9 33W | Ø350 / Ø450 — E27 max 60W
- Integrated LED versions available — contact us for details
- Ø220: compatible with leading edge mains dimmers — note that low wattage may affect dimming performance
- IP20 (ceiling/wall LED & Ø220) | IP44 (Ø350/450 wall)
Part of the Louis Poulsen AJ Family collection.
