An Icon, Taken Outside

The AJ family was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1957 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen — a commission in which he controlled every detail, from the architecture to the furniture to the light fittings. The AJ lamp's precise geometry, balancing straight lines with carefully considered curves, became one of the defining objects of Danish modernism.

The AJ 50 Wall was introduced in 2010 to mark the 50th anniversary of that original design. Developed specifically for outdoor use and LED technology, it brings the same considered form to exterior settings — with IP65 protection and a white-painted inner shade that distributes soft, downward-directed light evenly across the surface below. Available in Grey, Black, and White, each with a white-painted inner shade for consistent light quality.
