A Pendant That Has Been Getting It Right for Over Sixty Years

Hans J. Wegner designed the HJW37 in 1962 for the dining table — a pendant that directs light downward, softly and without glare, while remaining an object worth looking at from every seat around the table. The painted aluminium shade is paired with a 24-carat gold- or nickel-plated hanger: a material detail that gives the piece its quiet authority without announcing itself.

The design includes a height-adjustable socket to position the light source precisely for glare-free illumination — a functional consideration built in from the beginning, not added later. Available with or without a lift mechanism: the lift version allows the height to be adjusted after installation, with a white ceiling canopy included. Three colour combinations — Black/Nickel, White/Nickel, and Green/Gold — each shifting the character of the piece from understated to considered.
