The Aalto 97 is Artek's extendable dining table — a rectangular form built on the same L-legs that Aalto patented in 1933 and described as "the little sister of the architectural column". The L-leg's direct load-bearing logic is well suited here: the legs mount cleanly to the underside of a 5cm-thick top, with no apron or stretcher to interrupt the line. An extension leaf slides in to take the table from 135 to 190 cm, making it equally at home for a quiet dinner or a longer gathering.
