Vitra Tabouret Metallique Low Stool
Manufacturer: Vitra | Designer: Jean Prouvé, 1936
From the Prouvé Studios to Production
Jean Prouvé designed the Tabouret Métallique in 1936 for the Maison d’éducation surveillée de Saint-Maurice, alongside two other proposed metal models. The design was elaborated in the Prouvé studios but never went into production — it is now manufactured by Vitra for the first time. The underframe of bent sheet metal shares structural affinities with the later Trapèze table. Its flat seat surface makes it equally useful as a small side table, and it comes in a selection of original Prouvé colours.
Suitable for outdoor use on a temporary or seasonal basis — after prolonged exposure to the elements, clean and store in a dry, sheltered place to ensure lasting use and avoid any deterioration in appearance.
Specifications
- Dimensions — Ø38cm × H44.5cm
- Material — bent sheet steel, powder-coated finish
- Glides — plastic
- Outdoor use — suitable for temporary or seasonal outdoor use
Part of the Vitra Jean Prouvé Collection and Low Stools.
