Vitra Tabouret 307 Low Stool

Manufacturer: Vitra | Designer: Jean Prouvé, 1951

A Tractor Saddle, Reinterpreted in Oak

In the early 1950s, Jean Prouvé designed a series of stools, each identified by a number. The seat of the Tabouret N°307 takes the form of a tractor saddle — ergonomic and without holes — recalling the lecture theatre seating Prouvé designed for Aix-Marseille University around the same time. Originally made from stamped aluminium sheet, the seat is crafted in solid oak in the Vitra edition. The contrast between the warm wooden seat and the slender powder-coated steel legs is a characteristic Prouvé pairing of materials.

Specifications

  • Dimensions — W45.5 Ă— D43.5 Ă— H44.5cm
  • Seat — solid oak, natural oiled or dark hard-wax oil finish
  • Base — steel, powder-coated
  • Glides — plastic

Part of the Vitra Jean Prouvé Collection and Low Stools.
