Vitra HAL RE Cantilever Chair

Manufacturer: Vitra | Designer: Jasper Morrison, 2010/2014

The HAL Shell on a Cantilever Base

The HAL RE Cantilever Chair pairs Jasper Morrison's recycled plastic shell with a chrome-plated tubular steel cantilever base — the most characterful base in the HAL family. The cantilever structure gives the chair a natural flex and lightness underfoot, making it well suited to dining rooms, meeting spaces, and anywhere a more relaxed, residential feel is wanted alongside the HAL family's clean aesthetic.

The seat shell is moulded from dyed-through recycled polypropylene sourced from Germany's 'Yellow Bag' (Gelber Sack) household waste collection, generating 54% fewer climate-damaging emissions than conventional plastic. Due to the composition of the recycled material, the colours are interspersed with tiny specks of pigment — a characteristic of the material. The HAL RE seat shell can also be 100% recycled at the end of its life.

Specifications

  • Dimensions — W47 × D48.5 × H78cm (seat height 43.5cm)
  • Seat shell — Dyed-through recycled polypropylene
  • Base — Cantilever tubular steel, chrome-plated; non-stackable

Part of the Vitra HAL, Vitra Dining Chairs and Dining Chairs collections.
