Vitra Fauteuil de Salon

Manufacturer: Vitra | Designer: Jean Prouvé, 1939

Architectural Form, Generous Comfort

The Fauteuil de Salon joins simple planes into a unified architectural object — a generous, comfortable armchair whose form follows directly from structural logic. Rediscovered in the archives of the French engineer Jean Prouvé, the design has been reissued by Vitra with an extended range of fabric and leather covers and a choice of original colours for the powder-coated steel base. Solid wood armrests in natural oak, dark stained oak, or American walnut add warmth to the chair’s angular frame, and the generous cushion padding gives it an inviting quality that belies its architectural rigour.

For more information on available fabrics and leathers, visit the Vitra Colour & Material Library.
