The DKL — Wire Shell, La Fonda Base

The Vitra Eames Wire Chair DKL pairs the iconic bent and welded steel wire seat shell with the La Fonda base — a die-cast aluminium base with a distinctive splayed leg form, polished or powder-coated to match the shell. Created in 1951, the same year as the Eames Plastic Chair, the wire shell was Charles and Ray Eames’ study in structural lightness: a one-piece organically shaped form that gives the chair its graphic, open quality.

The powder-coated versions are suitable for outdoor use on a temporary or seasonal basis. Also available with seat pad (DKL-5) and seat and back pads (DKL-2) on request — contact us for details.
