DSL — Dining Height Side Chair, La Fonda Base

The Eames Plastic Side Chair RE DSL pairs the iconic organically shaped recycled polypropylene shell with the La Fonda base — a four-legged die-cast aluminium base with a distinctive splayed form, available in polished or powder-coated finish. First developed for the La Fonda del Sol restaurant in New York in the early 1960s, the La Fonda base gives the Eames shell a more sculptural, refined character than the standard wire or wooden bases.

The shell is produced from recycled post-consumer plastic sourced from household packaging collected through Germany's Yellow Bag (Gelber Sack) scheme — significantly reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions versus virgin plastic. At end of life, the shells are 100% recyclable. Due to the nature of the recycled material, shell colours carry very subtle specks of pigment.
