Plywood Group — LCW Calf’s Skin Lounge Chair Wood

The LCW Calf’s Skin revives the hide-upholstered version of the Lounge Chair Wood as it was first presented in 1946 — the all-plywood shell construction paired with a thin wedge of foam beneath calfskin hide, adding comfort while preserving the chair’s lean, sculptural profile. Available in black ash with black and white calfskin, or natural ash with brown and white calfskin.

Charles and Ray Eames spent many years experimenting with techniques for producing three-dimensionally moulded plywood seat shells that conformed to the contours of the human body. The result was the Plywood Group — a family of chairs that have matured into classics while retaining an appearance that still looks contemporary today. Seat, back, and base are all in moulded plywood, connected via shock mounts — bonded rubber and metal connectors that allow a slight, natural flex.
