Aluminium Group EA 124 — Lounge

Designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1958 for the private home of an art collector in Columbus, Indiana, the Aluminium Group remains one of the defining furniture achievements of the twentieth century. Rather than a rigid seat shell, Eames stretched fabric or leather between two aluminium side members — creating a seat that flexes with the body and delivers exceptional comfort without heavy upholstery.

The EA 124 is the lounge model of the group — swivel-mounted, with an extra-high backrest, head cushion, and a tilt mechanism that adapts to the user’s weight. The high backrest offers optimum support for even taller-than-average users, while the backward tilt enhances the sense of relaxation.
