Aluminium Group EA 101 — Dine

Designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1958 for the private home of an art collector in Columbus, Indiana, the Aluminium Group remains one of the defining furniture achievements of the twentieth century. Rather than a rigid seat shell, Eames stretched fabric or leather between two aluminium side members — creating a seat that flexes with the body and delivers exceptional comfort without heavy upholstery.

The EA 101 belongs to the dining sub-family of the Aluminium Group — lighter, narrower, and higher than the lounge models, with a seat geometry designed for comfortable, dynamic sitting at a table. Non-swivel and without armrests, it is the most pared-back of the three dining models, bringing the Aluminium Group’s quiet authority to the dining room without compromise. Available with a polished aluminium, chrome-plated, or powder-coated base, and a wide selection of fabric, mesh, and leather upholstery.
