Plywood Group — DCM Dining Chair Metal

The DCM (Dining Chair Metal) pairs the organic plywood shells with a chromed or powder-coated tubular steel base, the seat and backrest connected to the frame via shock mounts — bonded rubber and metal connectors that allow a slight, natural flex. The contrast of warm plywood against the metal base gives the DCM a lightness and tension that makes it as suited to a home dining room as to a considered contract setting. Available in black ash, natural ash, or black pigmented walnut.

Charles and Ray Eames spent many years experimenting with techniques for producing three-dimensionally moulded plywood seat shells that conformed to the contours of the human body. The result was the Plywood Group — a family of chairs that have matured into classics while retaining an appearance that still looks contemporary today.
