Belleville takes its name from the vibrant Paris neighbourhood where Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have their studio. Its visual references are the classic furnishings and lively atmosphere of the French bistro — yet the chair rewards a second look. The familiar silhouette conceals a technically sophisticated construction that only reveals itself on closer inspection.
The Belleville Chair Wood shares the same slender black polyamide frame as the plastic version, but replaces the injection-moulded shell with one in moulded plywood — available in Natural Oak with protective varnish or Black Ash lacquer finish. The result is a chair that reads as wood yet retains the lightness and precision of the Belleville construction. The armless form seats more compactly around a table and pairs seamlessly with the Belleville Armchair Wood for a unified look.
Paired with the Belleville Bistro Table Indoor, the Chair Wood forms part of a unified yet diverse family — harmoniously coordinated in form and material, and equally at home in a bistro, a modern gallery, or a domestic dining room. Stackable up to 5 high for easy storage.
