Designed by Jasper Morrison for Vitra in 2016, the All Plastic Chair (APC) revisits the typology of the simple European dining chair in high-performance polypropylene. The frame is cast in a single piece in a more rigid grade of the material, while the seat and backrest use a softer compound that adapts to the sitter's body. The backrest connects to the frame via twin rubber-cushioned shafts, allowing it to flex gently with movement — a level of comfort unusual in a chair of this form.
The two-tone colour scheme is intrinsic to the design: each chair pairs a slightly darker frame with a lighter seat and backrest in the same hue, giving the APC a distinctive, contemporary character while retaining the quiet familiarity of a classic dining chair silhouette.
Resistant to sunlight and water, the APC is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. For prolonged outdoor exposure, clean and store in a dry, sheltered place to maintain appearance.
