Vitra Abalon Sofa
Manufacturer: Vitra | Designer: Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2022
A Curved Architecture for Seating
Taking its name from the shell of a sea snail, the Abalon Sofa has an organically curved form that draws people in. The expansive backrest serves two purposes: it shields those engaged in private conversation and offers a sense of enclosure for anyone seeking retreat within an open space. Solid yet light, massive yet graceful, it works as a striking solo piece or in multiples — where the concave and convex surfaces create a compelling spatial tension.
The upholstered seat shell accommodates three people comfortably. Front and back covers are separate, in different knit fabrics, opening up a wide range of two-tone combinations. All covers are fully removable for cleaning or replacement. Available in two base colours.
Specifications
- Dimensions — W220 × D81.5 × H108cm (seat height 40cm)
- Body — metal frame with moulded polyurethane foam and polyester fleece
- Covers — knit fabric, removable; front and back covers separate and in different colours
- Legs — die-cast aluminium, powder-coated
- Beam — rectangular tubular steel, powder-coated
- Glides — non-slip plastic glides, suitable for soft and hard floors
Also available as the Abalon Platform and Abalon Table. Part of the Vitra Sofas, Chaises & Ottomans collection.
