Captivating and Comforting
The TA001P Dream Lounge Chair is Japanese architect Tadao Ando’s tribute to Hans J. Wegner — and the result of a close, multi-year collaboration with Carl Hansen & Søn. Ando admired the sculptural minimalism in Wegner’s work and set out to match it through his own material language: a continuous shell of three-dimensional plywood, curved along two axes simultaneously during the moulding process.
Achieving that curvature pushed the limits of what was thought possible with three-dimensional plywood. The result is a chair that reads as a single, unbroken form — beautiful from every angle, and entirely at ease between art and furniture. The upholstered seat, back, and adjustable neck support add comfort without compromising the purity of the shell.
