Carl Hansen AH501 Outdoor Dining Chair
Manufacturer: Carl Hansen & Søn | Designer: Alfred Homann, 2022
Nothing Superfluous, Everything Considered
Designed by Danish architect Alfred Homann in 2022, the AH501 brings the same rigour he applies to architecture to an outdoor dining chair. The brief was straightforward: no superfluous detail, nothing that doesn't earn its place. The result is a chair that looks considered from every angle — strict lines softened by gently curved backrests and seats, with braces that grip the frame in a way that's as pleasing to look at as it is structurally sound.
Each joint is hand-polished by craftsmen at Carl Hansen & Søn, giving the FSC™-certified teak frame a surface that's soft to the touch and built to weather the outdoors. The chair stacks cleanly for storage.
Craftsmanship & Finish
Teak is a naturally hardy wood that weathers well outdoors, developing a silver-grey patina over time if left untreated — or it can be oiled to maintain its warm honey tone.
- Dimensions — W51 × D54.5 × H81cm (seat height 45.5cm)
- Frame — FSC™-certified teak
- Stacking — Yes
- Cushions — Available with or without
Also available with armrests as the AH502 Outdoor Dining Chair with Armrests. Pairs with the AH901 Outdoor Dining Table and the AH902 Outdoor Dining Table Square. Part of the Carl Hansen Outdoor AH Series — explore the full collection.
