Wegner designed the CH71 in 1952 as a compact lounge chair — something that could bring genuine comfort to a smaller room without dominating it. The slender frame and fully upholstered form give it a sculptural quality that reads well from all angles, while the careful attention to proportion keeps it from feeling heavy. The junction where the upholstery meets the slim wooden armrests is one of the more technically demanding details in the piece, and one that rewards a closer look.

The loose seat cushion sits within the upholstered frame without disrupting the silhouette, and the tapered legs in solid oak or walnut give it a lightness underfoot that suits both period and contemporary interiors.
