Carl Hansen CH621 Swivel Chair
Manufacturer: Carl Hansen & Søn | Designer: Hans J. Wegner, 1948
The First Swivel Chair in the Collection
The CH621 was designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1948 — the first swivel chair in the Carl Hansen & Søn collection and one of the earliest pieces of Danish furniture to be developed with ergonomics at its core. Wegner collaborated with doctors and physiologists to determine the ideal sitting posture and lumbar support, resulting in a chair that is as considered in its comfort as it is in its appearance.
Relaunched by Carl Hansen & Søn, the CH621 retains its original balletic stance — a brushed stainless steel frame on five castors, softened by an upholstered FSC™-certified oak seat, backrest, and armrests. The height adjusts via a gas lift cylinder and lever mechanism, making it equally at home at a home office desk or a wall-mounted workspace.
Craftsmanship & Finish
- Dimensions — W61 × D55.5 × H75.5 / 84.5cm (seat height 45–54cm)
- Frame — Brushed stainless steel on five castors
- Seat, back & armrests — FSC™-certified oak veneer with foam, upholstered in leather or fabric
- Height adjustment — Gas lift cylinder with lever mechanism
Pairs naturally with the CH110 Wooden Desk and AJ52 Society Table Desk. Part of the Carl Hansen Home Office collection.
