A Stool That Earns Its Place Anywhere
The CH53 was designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1966 as part of the same Shaker-influenced series that includes the CH44 Lounge Chair and the CH45 Rocking Chair. Simple in form and honest in material, it works as a footstool alongside the CH44, but is equally at home on its own — in a hallway, bedroom, or kitchen — or grouped in pairs.
The seat is hand-woven in paper cord, the same material used throughout the series. The solid wood frame is sturdy without being heavy, and the proportions are carefully considered: the low version sits at 39cm seat height, making it a natural companion to the CH44.
