Carl Hansen CH415 Coffee Table
Manufacturer: Carl Hansen & Søn | Designer: Hans J. Wegner, 1990
A Table Designed for an Airport, at Home Anywhere
The CH415 was designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1990 for Copenhagen Airport, where it was intended to sit between the fixed rows of his CH402, CH403 and CH404 sofas in the departure lounges. The brief was specific and practical — a small, low, round table that could hold its own visually alongside the upholstered lounge chairs while remaining light enough to move easily. Wegner approached it with the same care he brought to his larger commissions.
The tabletop is solid wood with a vertical edge, supported by four slim stainless steel legs that splay slightly outwards from the top before returning to vertical at the floor, ending in round glides. The result is a table that is stable, light in appearance, and versatile — equally at home as a coffee table, side table, or occasional extra seat. It pairs particularly well with Wegner’s upholstered lounge chairs, which share the same steel leg language.
