The CH26 Dining Chair has an unusual origin: Wegner designed it in 1950 alongside the CH22 Lounge Chair — a working drawing for translating the lounge chair’s organic form into a dining chair — but never manufactured a mock-up. It remained unknown to the public for decades. In 2016, the same year Carl Hansen & Søn reintroduced the CH22, the CH26 was finally brought to life in close collaboration with the Hans J. Wegner Design Studio, faithful to his original drawings.

The family resemblance to the CH22 is unmistakable: the same bold wooden back, the same organic shapes, the same hand-woven paper cord seat. But the CH26 is proportioned specifically for the dining table and desk — a chair designed for longer periods of sitting, with the ergonomics to match.

Available in solid oak and walnut with a natural paper cord seat. The oak/walnut combination pairs an oak frame and cover caps with a walnut armrest and backrest. Also available in lacquered finish — contact us for more information.
