Where the Frame Is the Feature
The CH108 is a rectangular coffee table that pairs brushed flat steel with a polished glass top — a material combination Wegner returned to across the CH100 series, and one that suited his interest in structure as something to be seen rather than hidden. Designed in 1970, it shares the same construction as the square CH106: two trestles in bent flat steel, joined by transverse rails that carry the top directly, leaving the frame visible through the glass.
The rounded corners of the glass and the brushed finish of the steel keep the table from reading as purely industrial. At 170×70cm, the proportions are well suited to placement in front of the CH102, CH103, or CH104 sofas — a pairing Wegner designed the series around.
