Vitra EM Dining Table HPL Laminate
Manufacturer: Vitra | Designer: Jean Prouvé, 1950
Built for Everyday Use
Jean Prouvé developed the EM Table — Entretoise Métallique, or metal struts — around 1950 for the Maison Tropicale project. The name describes the construction: canted legs connected by a crossbar, the structural forces made visible rather than concealed. Every detail follows from the engineering logic, not from decoration.
This version is fitted with a high-pressure laminate (HPL) top — 34mm thick, robust and easy to maintain — making it well suited to heavier everyday use. The base is bent sheet steel and tubular steel, powder-coated, available in two colour groups.
Specifications
- Dimensions — Length: 180 | 200 | 220 | 240 | 260cm × Width: 90cm × Height: 74cm
- Top — high-pressure laminate (HPL), 34mm thick
- Base — bent sheet steel and tubular steel, powder-coated — two colour groups available
Also available as the Vitra EM Dining Table in Solid Wood and the Vitra S.A.M. Bois Dining Table. Pairs well with Vitra Dining Chairs. Part of the Vitra Jean Prouvé Collection, Vitra Dining Tables and Dining Tables collections.
