Vitra Eames Elephant Chair RE
Manufacturer: Vitra | Designer: Charles & Ray Eames, 1945
A 1945 Design for Children
Charles and Ray Eames designed a toy elephant in plywood in 1945 β a piece that never made it into mass production, but that captured the same warmth and formal intelligence that runs through all their work. Vitra's RE edition finally realises the design in the material it was always meant for: something a child could actually play with. Made from dyed-through recycled polypropylene sourced from industrial waste, it is 100% recyclable and robust enough for indoor and outdoor use.
The result is a friendly, characterful object β those distinctive oversized ears, that gentle stance β that works equally well as a toy or as a sculptural presence in a child's room. Available in seven colours, from the classic Eames Red Orange to Pale Rose and Sky Blue.
Specifications
- Dimensions β L78.5 Γ W35 Γ H41.5cm
- Materials β dyed-through recycled polypropylene from industrial waste; 100% recyclable, matt finish
