The String® System was designed in 1949 and over 60 years it has evolved from being a ground-breaking concept to becoming one of the most loved pieces of classic Scandinavian design.
Each component of the system is so well thought through that there is an almost infinite variety of combinations. The components are available in a range of colours and materials, yet the measurements are fixed and have never been altered. That’s why a String® shelf can always be rebuilt, reinvented and transformed.
The metal shelf with high edge is bought individually and is particularly versatile — the raised 7cm edge keeps objects in place and works well with optional extras such as hanging bars and hooks. The galvanised version is suitable for outdoor use.
Please note that this shelf requires the String Furniture side panels, sold separately.

Available in beige, black, dark brown, dark grey or white, and in galvanised steel for outdoor use (58cm width only). Also available at 20cm depth upon special request.
