A Counter Stool as Considered as Any Chair
The CH58 was designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1985 with the same attention to structural logic that defines his seating work. Four slightly angled solid wood legs are held together by a stainless steel ring — which doubles as a footrest — and the legs are deliberately thickest at the joint with the ring, narrowing towards both the floor and the seat. It is a detail that is typical of Wegner: the form follows the forces.
The upholstered seat is round and compact, and the overall silhouette is clean and unfussy — at home at a kitchen island, a bar, or in a restaurant setting. The CH58 is the lower of two versions; the taller CH56 bar stool is designed for bar height.
