L'Oiseau — French for 'the bird' — is milled from a single piece of solid maple, its form shaped by the same archaic simplicity that runs through the Bouroullec brothers' approach to natural materials. An avian figure with no fussiness or sentimentality, it holds its own in a contemporary interior without the cuteness typically associated with decorative animal figures.
The maple version is sanded to a smooth finish — the grain and natural variation of the timber giving each piece its own quiet character. Considerable craftsmanship goes into the fabrication of each bird, making it a unique object.
