Vitra Herringbone Vessels Bowl
Manufacturer: Vitra | Designer: Raw-Edges, 2019
From the VitraHaus to Your Home
The Herringbone Vessels began as part of a larger installation. In 2018, Raw-Edges — the London-based studio of Shay Alkalay and Yael Mer — designed an entire floor of the VitraHaus on the Vitra Campus, developing objects whose patterns were generated through immersion dyeing. For the ceramic pieces, this means repeatedly dipping each bowl into a coloured glaze at a controlled angle — a process that produces a herringbone pattern determined by the shape and weight of the piece itself. Because every dip is performed by hand, no two bowls are identical.
The result is a functional object with the character of a one-off. Available in Mint and Sand.
Specifications
- Dimensions — Ø19.5 × H12cm
- Materials — Glazed ceramic; dip-dyed by hand
- Colours — Mint, Sand
Pair with the Herringbone Tray, Herringbone Vase Plain and Herringbone Vase Ribbed. Part of the Vitra Accessories collection.
