Designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Vitra in 2012, Corniches arose from the need for small, impromptu storage in everyday life. As Ronan Bouroullec explains: “The same way that we hang our belongings on a rock jutting from a cliff before diving into the sea, we need small, informal storage in everyday life too.” Neither conventional shelves nor simple horizontal surfaces, Corniches are individual, isolated protrusions — a new way to use the walls of a living space.
They work equally well as a key rack beside the front door, a perch for a soap dispenser in the bathroom, a pedestal for a small collection of objects, or grouped together as a larger wall installation. Moulded from high-quality plastic, they are available in three sizes and six colours.
