A Revival Six Decades in the Making
The PH 1/1 Chandelier Centenary Edition revives one of Poul Henningsen's most ambitious designs — a piece that disappeared from the Louis Poulsen catalogue in the mid-1960s and has not been available since.
Originally known as the Bombardement Chandelier, it was first produced in 1933 as a direct application of System PH — Henningsen's geometrically precise approach to glare-free light — scaled up to chandelier form. Each arm carries a complete three-shade set: a mouth-blown four-layered dusty terracotta opal glass shade, glossy outside and sandblasted matte within, producing the same soft, diffused, shadow-free downward light that defines every lamp in the PH family.
The Design
The structure is architectural. Curved arms connect to a central core that stacks vertically, positioning each shade set so that all are exposed harmoniously — no arm obscures another, no shade competes. In aged brass with fine hairlines, lacquered to hold its finish permanently, the chandelier reads as both a historical object and a contemporary centrepiece.
A Strictly Limited Release
This is a strictly limited release. The 9-arm edition is limited to 200 pieces worldwide. The 6-arm to 400. The 3-arm to 1,000. Each carries a unique number engraved in gold inside the socket housing, with a Centenary engraving on the suspension.
