A Floor Lamp Built Around Light
The Panthella Floor Lamp is one of Verner Panton's most enduring designs — a lamp conceived from the outset around a single idea: that both the stand and the shade should act as reflectors. Light travels downward from the hemispherical shade onto the trumpet-shaped stem, which bounces it back upward and outward, producing a soft, diffused, glare-free glow that fills a room without a single harsh edge.
The Design
The Panthella Floor Lamp has been in continuous production since 1971 and remains unchanged in its essentials. The opal white acrylic shade and white lacquered steel stem give it a clean, sculptural presence that works equally well as a reading lamp or as a statement piece in a living room or bedroom. An on-cord switch keeps operation simple.
