Flos Luce Orizzontale S1 Suspension Light

Luce Orizzontale is a poetic yet technical sculpture — a suspended lamp that combines exquisite craftsmanship with cutting-edge manufacturing technology. Originating from an ambitious Flos Bespoke project, it distils an artisanal concept into something quietly extraordinary: an interlocking, modular structure of thick cast glass cylinders, minimally suspended from the ceiling.
The glass modules are created through an artisanal process of pouring molten glass into a rotating mould, producing an exclusive finish that makes each piece subtly unique. A polished extruded aluminium bar runs through the cylinders, housing two linear LED strips — one emitting light upward, one downward — for layered, directional illumination. As Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec describe it: ‘It is not a technical glass, but an ever-changing material, almost alive, with aluminium extrusions inserted through it. The result we wanted to achieve was precise, but also fluctuating and vibrant.’
Three control modes give full flexibility over light intensity and direction. The touch button on the lamp body allows independent dimming of upward and downward emission from 10–100%. Push&Touch adds remote on/off control via a push button. DALI&Touch integrates with DALI DT6 systems for architectural and hospitality installations. The power supply unit and dimmer are discreetly housed within the ceiling rose.
Designed with longevity in mind: every component is replaceable without tools, no screws or glues are used, and all parts are recyclable. A lamp built to last — and to be repaired rather than replaced.
The S1 features 8 cast glass tubes and reaches 1.66m in length. Available in three sizes (S1, S2, S3) — for details on the S2 and S3, please contact one of our team.
