Carl Hansen VLA76 Foyer Armchair

Manufacturer: Carl Hansen & SΓΈn | Designer: Vilhelm Lauritzen, 1945

A Radio House Original

The VLA76 Foyer Armchair was designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen in 1945 as one of three pieces created exclusively for the foyer of Radiohuset in Copenhagen β€” the building that today houses the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Recreated in close collaboration with Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, the chair is characterised by the unique interplay between its solid oak frame, upholstered seat, and slanted backrest.

Assembled from three individual parts, the armrests are hand-polished with great care to eliminate any visible transitions β€” a detail that gives the chair its seamless, sculptural quality. Both the seat and backrest are meticulously upholstered with handmade buttons.

Craftsmanship & Finish
