Designed in 1970 as part of an exclusive office furniture range, the CH101 brings together stainless steel and hand-upholstered leather in a combination that remains as compelling today as it was then. Wegner believed the two materials could coexist without compromise — and the CH101 is the proof.
The chair is built over an inner frame of solid beechwood with two arm elements upholstered by hand to the highest quality standards. Seat and back cushions have a foam core wrapped in a down layer for dimensional stability and comfort. The leather covering is removable, with discreetly placed air holes.
The Stainless Steel Frame
A flat stainless steel frame runs as a longitudinal rail, joined to skid legs at each end. Stainless steel also features in the armrests, where it both supports the upholstery and covers it front and back — creating a precise, considered contrast between the cold precision of the metal and the warmth of the leather.
The CH100 series was relaunched in 2008 to mark the 100th anniversary of Carl Hansen & Søn, and represents some of Wegner's finest work in stainless steel.
