Carl Hansen VLA62 Radio House Mirror

Manufacturer: Carl Hansen & Søn | Designer: Vilhelm Lauritzen, 1945

A Radio House Original

Vilhelm Lauritzen designed the VLA62 Radio House Mirror in 1945 exclusively for the Royal Retiring Room at the Radio House in Copenhagen — the room that served as the royal chambers to the royal box, overlooking the concert hall now occupied by the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Every piece of furniture in that room was designed by Lauritzen himself, as was every fixture throughout the building: door handles, banisters, lamps, and furniture, all conceived as a single, unified work.

Previously unseen by a wider audience, the mirror is now brought into production by Carl Hansen & Søn in partnership with Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects — following the revival of the Vega Chair and Foyer Series. It is presented in its original size: a full-length 175cm mirror, made to hang on the wall.

Craftsmanship & Finish

  • Dimensions — W80 × D6 × H175cm
  • Frame — FSC™-certified solid oak, oiled; assembled from eight hand-carved pieces, grain-matched for continuity
  • Finish — Hand-sanded for a smooth, tactile surface
  • Profile — Deep concave frame with organic corners

Part of the Carl Hansen accessories collection.
