Louis Poulsen PH 3½-2½ Glass Table Lamp
Manufacturer: Louis Poulsen | Designer: Poul Henningsen
Poul Henningsen introduced his three-shade system in 1926 — a geometric approach to lighting based on the logarithmic spiral, in which every surface angle is calculated to redirect and soften the output of the bulb, eliminating glare entirely. The first PH table lamp followed in early 1927, conceived as an alternative to low-hung pendants. The PH 3½-2½ Glass Table Lamp, developed in 1928, is one of the more advanced expressions of that system — a hybrid configuration with a 350mm top shade paired with the proportionally smaller lower shades from the PH 2½ family, designed to direct the majority of light downward while illuminating the surrounding space with a soft, even glow.
Three mouth-blown three-layer white opal glass shades — glossy on the exterior, sandblasted matte on the underside — produce a harmonious, glare-free light distribution. The top plate, base, and stem are available in three finishes: high lustre chrome plated, black metallised, or brass metallised.
