Louis Poulsen PH 3/2 Wall Light

Manufacturer: Louis Poulsen | Designer: Poul Henningsen

Poul Henningsen developed his three-shade system in 1925–26, first exhibited in Paris in cooperation with Louis Poulsen. The partnership continued until his death in 1967. The PH 3/2 Wall is part of a family that now numbers thirty lights — built on the same principle as every other PH lamp: a logarithmic spiral that distributes light evenly across each shade surface, eliminating glare and directing illumination precisely where it is needed.

The first shades were made of metal with a painted underside — white, gold, or silver depending on the quality of light desired. Glass was introduced later, allowing the lamp to illuminate the room as well as the surface below. The PH 3/2 Wall uses that glass system: three mouth-blown opal shades, glossy on top and sandblasted matte on the underside, producing a soft, diffused light with no glare and no harsh shadows. The 300mm top shade is paired with the proportionally smaller lower shades from the PH 2/2 — a hybrid configuration that keeps the lamp compact enough for wall mounting without losing the integrity of the system.

Available with a 2.9m cord and plug (on/off switch on wall box), or without cord for hardwiring. The hardwired version can be specified with or without a switch on the wall box — contact our team for details on the switchless option.
