Louis Poulsen PH 2/1 Wall Light

Manufacturer: Louis Poulsen | Designer: Poul Henningsen

Poul Henningsen developed his three-shade system in 1925–26, first realised in collaboration with Louis Poulsen for the Paris Exhibition that year. The lamp won gold. His approach was scientific: using the logarithmic spiral as a geometric basis, he achieved even distribution of light across the entire curve of each shade, eliminating glare and harsh shadow entirely. The PH 2/1 Wall Light brings that same principle to a wall-mounted form β€” a compact, chrome-armed fitting that directs soft, diffused light downward and outward without ever producing a harsh point of brightness.

The model numbers refer to shade size. The PH 2/1 uses an approximately 200mm top shade paired with lower shades from the 1/1 model β€” a β€˜hybrid’ configuration that keeps the fitting compact while preserving the integrity of the system.

Three mouth-blown three-layer white opal glass shades β€” glossy on the exterior, sandblasted matte on the underside β€” produce a soft, even light distribution with no visible hot spots. The arm, wall box, and suspension are in high lustre chrome plated brass and aluminium. Available with a cord and plug, or without cord for hardwiring β€” contact our team for details on the switchless hardwired option.
